Research on Juvenile Justice

Pro/Con Arguments

Click on the VLLC's "Online Databases" link and you will find two excellent resources for pro/con arguments and topic context:

      • Points of View (EBSCO Host)
      • Issues and Controversies (Facts on File)
Current Events + Historical Context

EBSCO Host is featured at the top of the VLLC's "Online Databases" page because of the outstanding quality and immense size of its database. Be sure to use the filtering tools on the left side of the search results to narrow and customize your findings. For example, if you want to research current events regarding the issue of juvenile justice, you can use the "Publication Date" slider bar to limit search results to articles published in the past year or two. If you want to limit your search only to articles published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals, there is an option to do that.

The World Wide Web

In addition to the sites listed above, you can use a quality search engine (like Google) to find a tremendous amount of information about the topic of juvenile justice on the web. Be sure to use the "Advanced Search" features to help fine tune your results. You may also want to use the "Website Evaluation Rubric" at the top of this page to assess the credibility and relevance of the sites you find on the web.

Print Resources

The ECV library has an extensive collection of print resources on the topic of juvenile justice. In addition to the books on the "Mr. Millican" cart, use the library catalog link on the VLLC to search for more information on the topic. Often, on a topic like juvenile justice, books provide credible, balanced information that is well-organized and easily searchable through features like a table of contents and index.
